2023 CAF Awards for Women: Super Falcon Stars Oshoala, Nnadozie, and Abiodun Reach Final Round

Three members of the Falcons’ squad have advanced to the CAF Women’s Awards final round of nominations.

Chiamaka Nnadozie, goalkeeper for Paris FC, is one of the three competing for the Goalkeeper of the Year award, along with Khadija Er-Rmichi and Andile Dlamini.

During her time with Paris FC and the Super Falcons, Nnadozie has been nothing short of sensational, nevertheless she really shone during the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

In the race for Young Player of the Year (Women), talented midfielder Deborah Abiodun faces off against Moroccan Nesryne El Chad and Ghanaian fullback Comfort Yeboah.

Abiodun has maintained her impressive form with the University of Pittsburgh Women’s Football Team, which first drew the attention of many during the last World Cup.

Forward Asisat Oshoala of Barcelona Femeni is one of six players vying for the title of CAF Women’s Player of the Year. The 29-year-old became the first African to score in three separate World Cups when she scored in Nigeria’s victory against Australia; she also played a pivotal part in Barcelona’s success last season.

Two additional players from that category are up for the award: South African attacker Thembi Kgatlana and Zambian captain Barbra Banda.

The Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, Marrakech, Morocco, will host the Awards Gala on Monday, 11 December 2023.
