Rapper and actor on “Superfly” Kalaan Walker, has been found guilty of raping six women. Three of them include 16 year old aspiring models. He has also been found guilty of sexually assaulting a seventh woman. Prosecutors on his case said these were “sophisticated” attacks occurring from 2013 to late 2018. According to a report by Rolling Stone, the 27 year old actor hung his head and sobbed as a Los Angeles jury read out his split verdict. He was acquitted of charges related to three of ten victims in the case; two of which were charges of “forcible rape”. In response to the charges against him, Walker exclaimed that he didn’t rape anybody as he was led away from the court in handcuffs. Even though his lawyer Andrew Flier has vowed an appeal, he faces up to 100 years to life at his sentencing. According to prosecutors, more than 30 women in total have stepped forward with assault claims against Walker. One of which was Jada Everon, a model who told Rolling Stone that she was sixteen when Walker contacted her on Instagram and promised to give her a photo shoot. She traveled to meet him and was raped in 2014. Everon also said that Walker was fond of mentioning and name-dropping rappers like Drake as a way to get his victims comfortable with him. According to her, “He did the same thing with me that he did with the others. He mentioned Drake. He name-dropped Drake. He filled me up with a bunch of hopes and dreams. What he said was dramatic. He said, ‘I can make you famous overnight. You can have access to all the famous people I know.’ It was very dramatic. At that age, I was so naïve. I was believing everything he said. I thought everything he said was legit. The entire time the assault occurred, every time I said ‘Stop,’ or was crying, he would say, ‘You’re so immature. I’m not going to help you anymore. I’m going to take it all away from you.’ He flipped a switch and became a complete predator.” Kalaan Walker has appeared in the movie Kings and played gang member Juju in the 2018 flick Superfly.
