The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has released a new programme to help midwives better assist pregnant women and their families throughout the whole perinatal period and beyond.
It’s called, ‘The best midwifery care happens in partnership’. It concentrates on a collection of materials meant to help midwives consider the good influence they’ve had on women and individuals in maternity care, as well as the ways in which they may improve their practise in the future.
The NMC will also offer helpful resources to the general public. The goal is to help individuals know what to anticipate from their midwives and how to collaborate with them to make educated healthcare decisions.
Executive Director of Professional Practise at the NMC, Sam Foster, said:
“Women and people in maternity care go through lots of different emotions and experiences. Every birth is unique but what everyone has in common is a wish to be heard and to receive personalised care.”
“That’s why our new resources support midwives to deliver the type of person-centred midwifery care that everyone preparing for the birth of a child has the right to receive. Through real, inspiring stories told by women, we showcase the impact of active listening on positive experiences and outcomes for people.”
According to NMC’s website, the organisation is committed to provide “the best possible care during pregnancy, birth, and postnatally to every woman, baby, and family.” And this is only possible because of certified midwives.
In addition, they think that the women in their care deserve the kind of person-centered, partnership-based care that they provide.
