Nigeria’s Nwachukwu Goodness has secured Nigeria’s fourth gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. She broke the world record twice before claiming the top prize.
The 23-year-old, Nigeria’s sole competitor in the Women’s Discus Throw F42-44/61-64 event setting new records with her first two throws.
Sarah Edminston of Australia came second while Naibili Vanutisolo of Fiji Island took the third position.
Earlier, Latifat Tijani and Oyinyechi Mark were disqualified from the para-powerlifting event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games over lateness for the event. The Nigerians were to participate in the women’s lightweight category at 3:00 pm but they were disqualified from the event.
