The Emmy Awards are awards that celebrate acting, film and documentaries. According to Vanity Fair, this year’s nominations are a “blast from the past” which still make room for plenty of fresh blood.
The 2022 nominations which were announced on Tuesday also have a lot more women. Women in particular make up half of directing nominees and younger actresses like Zendaya and also are featured.
Zendaya received her second nomination for producing the TV series Euphoria, making her the youngest two-time Emmy nominee at 25.
Critics from NPR, have however commented on the level of diversity seen in this year’s nominations as compared to last year.
There are 25 non-white nominees this year as against 41 last year and inclusive TV shows like Bridgerton and Blackish which many expected to be part of this year’s nominations were excluded.
