In the ongoing series, Document Women touches on the illustrious women who have been nominated for the annual event. This week, we have Omawunmi and Momager to popular Nigerian artist Burna Boy.
OMAWUNMI
Omawunmi Megbele was born in 1982 in Delta state Nigeria and holds a Law degree from Ambrose Alli University. After school she moved to Port Harcourt in Rivers state where she worked at her family’s law firm. She gained attention after she emerged first runner-up in the 2007 West African Idols TV competition since then sharing the stage with personalities like Angelique Kidjo, Sasha, Angie Stone.
One would easily mistake “OmaWonder” for having a background in theatre once introduced to her songs and videos. She incorporates the art of dramatic storytelling in both songs and visuals. Naturally, roles started pouring in making her stance as an actress a solid one. She has made appearances in movies including the Netflix Naija popular movie Òlòtūré.
Omawunmi has been nominated three times in the past The Headies award, this year makes it her fourth appearance on the nominee list.
BOSE OGULU
She is widely known as Mama Burna and the driving force behind Burna Boy’s managerial team. Bose Ogulu founded Spaceship Collective which is the holding company to Spaceship Records and Spaceship Publishing.
She was nominated in the 2021 The Beatz Awards for Best Manager in the Year category. Ogulu has been nominated in this year’s The Headies award show in the Special Recognition category.
