Florida: Body Of Missing Woman Found in Storage Unit of Estranged Husband

According to investigators, a lady’s body was discovered in a storage unit that belonged to her estranged husband. As a result, the disappearance of the woman is being investigated as a homicide in Florida.

In a Facebook post made on November 13, the Winter Springs Police agency announced that Shakeira Yvonne Rucker had been reported missing. Her relatives had informed the agency that they last saw her on November 11.

According to Rucker’s relatives, she departed from her residence at approximately 7:30 p.m. on November 11 for “an unknown destination,” which could have something to do with her estranged husband, Cory Hill.

The police stated in the social media post that Shakeira’s family has not heard from her since that day and fears she is in danger.

At a press conference on Sunday, Winter Springs Police Chief, Matthew Tracht, revealed that the hunt for Rucker had involved multiple law enforcement organisations, including the FBI, and had extended over four counties.

Tracht stated that in order to resolve the case, investigators worked 16 to 18-hour days. On Saturday, authorities notified Rucker’s family of the finding of her body, ending the hunt.

On Sunday, Orange County Sheriff John Mina stated that deputies were dispatched to a storage facility in Apopka, which is around 20 miles northwest of Orlando, at approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday. The reason for the response was a 911 call regarding an odour emanating from one of the units.

A lady who was eventually identified as Rucker was found dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds when deputies unlocked the unit, according to Mina. According to Mina, the results of the autopsy are still pending, therefore the official cause of death has not been determined yet.

According to Mina, after discovering that the unit Rucker was found in belonged to Hill, 51, authorities labelled him as the major suspect.

CNN has attempted to contact Hill’s designated public defender.

According to the sheriff, authorities are looking into the possibility that the shooting occurred at the storage facility, but the motive has not been revealed yet.

According to documents from the Orange County Jail, Hill was jailed on November 13 for an unrelated shooting. Reportedly shooting at a former lover and her family on November 12, Hill faces four counts of attempted murder, according to Mina, who announced the charges at the news conference.
