Stella Oduah is a Nigerian politician, former minister and senator who is running for another term for the post of senator in Anambra North. She is vying for the position under the People’s Democratic Party.
Education and Career
Born in 1962, Ms Oduah has a degree in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration. After obtaining her degree, she returned to Nigeria in 1983 and joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
In 1992, she left the NNPC and established Sea Petroleum and Gas Company Limited, an independent marketer of petroleum products.
Her political career began with an appointment as the Minister of Aviation in 2011.
She was also active as one of those campaigning for former President Goodluck Jonathan where she served as his campaign’s Director of Administration and Finance.
In 2015, she was elected to the Nigerian senate to represent Anambra North senatorial district.
Campaign
Ms Oduah has been screened by the People’s Democratic Party as part of her intentions to represent Anambra North Senatorial District again. In her defection statement from the All Progressives Congress, Ms Oduah said she’d considered “her political strengths amid new developments across the country (and) returned to the party where she’s highly regarded.”
She says that she wants to change the political narrative in the South East.
