Gibraltar: Ministry of Equality Announces Events to Mark International Women’s Day

Marking International Women’s Day, the Ministry of Equality has announced various events. Members of the Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts (GAMPA) and the Gibraltar Garrison Library have been collaborating with the Ministry.

On Monday, March 4th, a panel discussion event will be held with the topic “Inspire Inclusion,” thanks to a partnership between the Gibraltar Garrison Library and the Ministry of Equality.

There will be a question and answer session following the presentation at 6 o’clock, and everyone is invited to attend and participate. The event will be held at the Garrison Library. Due to limited space, registration is mandatory.

The second event, ‘La Maleta,’ is a performance work that the Ministry of Equality and GAMPA have also collaborated on. In this participatory performance, the identity of Gibraltarian women is examined, with special focus on the ladies who were alive during the evacuation.

The GEMA Gallery will host a performance at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday and two more performances at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Minister for Equality, the Hon Christian Santos GMD MP, said, “I very much look forward to all the events planned to mark International Women’s Day. I think that we are in for a very special treat with both types of events organized for next week. I want to thank the Garrison Library and GAMPA, who have worked with us to create events that will prove to be thought provoking and inspire positive action.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to encourage and invite boys and men to be part of these celebratory events and more importantly to be part of the conversation around gender equality and women’s rights. We all have a role to play in creating a more just and equitable society.”
