Justice Served: Cleric Sentenced For Attempted Rape, Lagos DSVA Hails Judgment

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sentenced an Islamic teacher, Obasanmi Waliyullah, on Tuesday for attempting to defile a 15-year-old student.
After pleading guilty to the two amended charges of attempted sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child, he was sentenced by Justice Rahman Oshodi.
The judge found Waliyullahi guilty on both counts and sentenced him to 14 years for the attempted sexual assault by penetration and 7 years for the indecent treatment of a child.
This development was applauded by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), on Wednesday.
The agency tweeted their approval using the handle @LSdvsa.
After the defendant was found guilty and sentenced, the statement claimed that justice had been served.
“Justice has been served, his name will be registered in the Sexual Offenders Register as maintained by Lagos State,” it stated.
It also stated that the agency reaffirmed the state’s zero-tolerance policy and its dedication to supporting sexual assault victims and holding offenders accountable.
“We remain committed to helping survivors and ensuring perpetrators are held accountable for their actions. “Let us continue to demand justice for survivors.
