Las Vegas Raiders Hire First Black Female Team President in NFL History

Sarah Douglass Morgan has become the new president of the Las Vegas Raiders, officially being the first Black woman to serve in that role.

In a statement put out by the Raiders website, Raiders owner Mark Davis said that he was “thrilled that Sandra had decided to join the Raiders family”, adding that her “experience, integrity and community will be invaluable to our organisation”.

Ms Morgan was the first person of colour to serve as chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board and was the first African American City Attorney in the state of Nevada.

Commenting on her new position as Raiders team president, she said, “It is the honour of a lifetime to join the Raiders at one of the most defining times in the team’s history.”

Morgan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Juris Doctor from UNLV’s Boyd Law School. She is married to Don Morgan, who played for the Vikings from 1999-2001 and the Cardinals in 2002. She has also served as an Independent Director with Allegiant Airlines, Caesars Entertainment, Inc. and Fidelity National Financial, Inc.
