Pakistani Surgeon Gives Hope To Millions of Women As He Sets New World Record for Robotic Surgery

Dr. Amer Raza of Pakistan is at the forefront of pioneering robotic surgery using the Da Vinci surgical system to treat endometriosis, a condition that can have a negative impact on a woman’s ability to have a child at any age.
At London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Dr. Raza and his team of surgeons set a new record by performing 12 major gynecological procedures in a single day while also using cutting-edge robotic technology.
Amer Raza, an alumnus of Nishtar Medical College, Multan, not only conducted the surgeries, but has also broken a global record by completing 12 major surgeries in a single day.
The most cutting-edge method of abdominal surgery is called the robotic surgery, and it is performed with remote-controlled equipment.
There are tens of millions of women around the world who are afflicted with endometriosis, affecting them at every stage of life.
Amer Raza is a qualified laparoscopic surgeon. In the areas of endometriosis and other forms of severe pelvic disease, he is now considered a top surgeon worldwide.
In addition to supervising a large team of surgeons from a variety of specialties, he is the director of the International Centre of Endometriosis at London’s Cromwell Hospital. Dr. Raza also established and heads the international laparoscopic surgery training organization CCMIG Chelsea Centre of minimal access surgery. To spread knowledge of laparoscopic gynecology, he frequently visits the Middle East, Pakistan, Africa, and Europe.
Dr. Amer Raza explained the strain on the NHS due to patient wait times in an interview with Geo News: “Since COVID, our National Health Service (NHS) has been under huge pressure.”
“We have pioneered the most efficient strategic planning to do the most number of operations with the help of robotics in two days. Robotics technology allows a doctor to complete the operation in a shorter time with more safety and accuracy than a conventional approach. I am very excited that we have achieved this landmark and that our efforts will help women of all age groups.”
Because of its advantages, robotic surgery is increasingly gaining popularity among both doctors and patients. Numerous robotic systems are being brought into the healthcare sector, and the technology will be embraced by hospitals all over the world.
Endometriosis is a devastating condition since it produces symptoms such as chronic pelvic pain, tiredness, and infertility. Pain alleviation through surgery is possible.
Dr. Raza stated that he and his staff meticulously planned out the entire treatment process, from the initial consultation to the post-op discharge. Compared to traditional laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery allows the surgical team to complete the operation in a quicker amount of time, saving 30-50 minutes per surgery.
“The new technique also causes less blood loss and the recovery period is significantly faster. We were assisted by a team of 20 staff members who worked very efficiently to enable us to do this,” the British Pakistani doctor said.
Dr. Raza has stated that he owes a great deal to Pakistan and will collaborate with local hospitals and medical professionals to implement robotic technology that will benefit women. “I look forward to working with doctors in Pakistan. Britain has thousands of doctors from Pakistan who are doing great work in the NHS. I am glad that the British press has highlighted my contribution which is a credit to Pakistan,” he said.
He claimed that 10% of British women suffer from endometriosis. The endometrium, the tissue that lines the inside of the uterus, can migrate outside the uterus, creating adhesions and pelvic discomfort.
More than 5,000 women in the UK have been waiting more than 18 months for gynecology treatment, and NHS data shows that half a million women are currently on the waiting list. The tremendous backlog in the NHS can be alleviated via organization, strategic planning, and cutting-edge robotic surgery.
