According to NBC News, the NYC Ballet announced on Monday that the singer was commissioned by them to compose a score at the Fall Fashion Gala’s 10th-anniversary celebration next month.
Following its debut at the Fashion Gala, the production will be staged later on Oct. 1, 8, 11 and 16 and next year on May 2, 11, 13, 17 and 18.
Ms Knowles also took to her Twitter to celebrate the news and give more information about it saying she was “excited” and that the “score was performed by the City Ballet Orchestra” and choreographed by Gianna Reisen.
“very excited to announce i’ve composed an original score for the New York City Ballet choreography by Gianna Reisen , score performed by the City Ballet Orchestra + soloist from my ensemble ,” Solange tweeted.
Solange Knowles is an award-winning actor and singer notably known for her album “A Seat At The Table“. Her songs explore identity, loss and what it means to be a Black woman in modern-day America.
